Saw Kit - 8" Gents Saw

This is a kit to make an 8" brass backed gents saw.  The kit includes a folded brass back, a toothed saw plate, and a ferrule for the handle (handle not provided in the kit, and saw plate is not sharpened, just has teeth stamped). 

The saw plate is stamped at 16ppi and comes unsharpened and with the factory bluing on the 1095 spring steel.

The brass back is folded from 385 brass, and includes a satin finish.  The back will be roughly 10" long total, and include a 2" section that has been cut down to 1/4" tall, which includes notches for a better glue hold when attaching the handle.

A brass ferrule is included to fit a roughly 3/4" diameter end tenon on the handle where the back is inserted.

Instructions will be included for the assembly and finishing of your saw kit.

NOTES: 

1. You will need to be able to clean the plate, shape, set, and sharpen the teeth on your saw kit unless you contact us about the sharpening services.
2. This kit does not include a handle or handle blank. It is expected that you will be able to create one for it. 
3. The saw plate is not installed in the brass back and will require you to install it yourself. 
4. Returns or exchanges of kits that have been modified or damaged from use or assembly are accepted at our discretion, and will require prior approval including photos of the kit to be returned.  Returns or exchanges that are found to have been modified or damaged will be either refused or subject to restocking fees.

• Sharpening: $55

• De-Bluing: $15
  • Remove bluing from saw plate and lightly buff with Scotchbrite
  • Will still require final sanding or polishing to your own preference
    
• Polished Brass: $20
  • Sand and buff the brass back and ferrule up to a shine
    
• Custom Plate Etch: $50
  • Requires design approval via email
    
  • Includes De-Bluing of the saw plate
  • Includes art design fee of $10, which will only be charged once per design
